What Do Low-Voltage Projects Cost? An Honest Guide

Every job is quoted individually — no two buildings, pathways, or requirements are the same. But you deserve a straight answer about what drives cost before you invite a contractor out. Here’s how pricing works for the systems we install, and the typical ranges we see across Tampa Bay and Sarasota.

The short version: most of our projects fall between a few hundred dollars (a single camera or a WiFi fix) and tens of thousands (building-wide systems). The ranges below are planning figures, not quotes.

What Drives the Price

  1. Scope — camera count, drop count, doors, distance. This is the biggest factor.
  2. Pathway difficulty — open ceilings and existing conduit are cheap; concrete cores, long trenches, and occupied spaces cost more.
  3. Equipment grade — commercial-grade hardware costs more than residential and lasts longer.
  4. Existing conditions — clean takeovers are cheaper than remediating tangled legacy wiring.
  5. Timeline — nights/weekends work in occupied buildings carries a premium.

Ranges reflect typical Tampa Bay / Sarasota market conditions as of 2026. Your written quote is the real number.

How Our Quotes Work

  1. Site survey — we walk the property and understand the requirement.
  2. Written proposal — fixed scope, equipment list, fixed price. No allowances hiding surprises.
  3. Change orders in writing — if you add scope, you approve the price before we do the work.
  4. Final invoice matches the proposal — plus any signed change orders. That’s it.

Ways to Keep Costs Down

  • Bundle trades. One contractor doing the wireless, fiber, and access control is cheaper than three mobilizations.
  • Do it during buildout. Open ceilings and empty buildings are the cheapest time to wire anything.
  • Be clear about the goal. “Cover the parking lot” and “read plates at 100 feet” are different systems at different prices — telling us the real requirement avoids over- or under-building.
